Our Story
Where Our Mission Began
How2Help was born from a deeply personal experience.
Years ago, when a family member was living with advanced cancer, I witnessed something I had seen professionally for years but now felt personally: people often become dependent not because they have lost all ability, but because they have never been shown how to preserve the abilities they still have.
By teaching simple techniques that supported independence rather than doing everything for her, I saw firsthand how empowering the right guidance could be.
In a final goodbye, she whispered words I never forgot:
“Gracias por la potencia que me diste.”
“Thank you for the power you gave me.”
That moment sparked the vision for How2Help.

As experienced physical therapists, we created How2Help to bring these skills to families through practical workshops that teach the balance between helping and empowering, so loved ones can remain safer, stronger, and more independent at home.
Our Mission & Values
Our Mission
Our mission is to empower caregivers with practical, evidence-informed skills that promote safety, confidence, and independence at home. We believe family caregivers deserve more than good intentions—they deserve training that helps them care for loved ones effectively while reducing fear, uncertainty, and unnecessary burden.
What We Believe
We believe caring for someone does not mean doing everything for them. Whenever safely possible, independence should be supported, not unintentionally taken away. Preserving what a loved one can still do for themselves can strengthen confidence, maintain function, and improve quality of life for both the caregiver and the person receiving care.
Our Approach
Our approach centers on teaching the balance between helping and empowering. Through practical, hands-on instruction, we teach caregivers when to assist, when to encourage independence, and how to use safe techniques that support dignity, function, and aging at home. Our goal is not simply to teach tasks, but to help change the way families think about care.
